![]() This allows students to answer collectively, so as to avoid singling kids out who may be struggling with mental math. Remember: the point of this version isn’t to answer before your students, but to help boost their mental math abilities. Students learn how to multiply fractions using area models, which helps them understand what the multiplication actually means. This unit covers multiplying fractions by fractions and mixed numbers. This interactive powerpoint unit has 6 lessons and is completely Common Core Aligned. You’ll go to the first group and have a one-question face-off, before moving to the second group and so on. A 5th Grade Math Unit about multiplying fractions by fractions. Who doesn’t love a chance to outsmart their teacher!? What’s more, the quick think-on-the-spot nature of this fraction activity can help improve your students’ mental math skills.Īlternatively, you can run a version of this game allowing everyone to play against you. The first student who multiplies the two fractions correctly adds those cards to their deck.Ī student wins if they end up with the entire deck of fraction cards in their hand, or they have the majority of cards at the end of, for example, 20 minutes. With their pile of cards facedown, each student will draw a card at the same time. Sitting side by side, each student will have half a deck of fraction cards (which you can download here). Fraction area models Fractions on a number line Fractions of a set Equivalent fractions Comparing fractions Least common denominator Simplest form Mixed numbers and improper fractions Fractions as division Adding fractions. So, it’s best to gauge your class before playing this version. You might also have kids in your class who get anxious under the pressure of doing math quickly and thus underperform. ![]() Note: Many teachers are moving away from speed-based problem solving because it doesn’t necessarily demonstrate student understanding. Can use reastream if I want to send audio that way too.Ĭan we get unlimited MIDI AUX Sends? Yep! Even in instrument tracksĪ tons of stuff I do with it for the scoring apps that I won’t get into here. Use virtual ports, or OSC to send MIDI in one instance off to other plugin instances, apps, computers, whatever. Dorico doesn’t yet supply clock info to plugins it hosts, but we can get sample count, and use that to fire off an audio file at a precise time…have it sync up with the transport. If you’d rather not control pump it, there’s plenty of stuff in there to do with gates and cross fades as well (and more). Got a plugin you wanna side chain that doesn’t support it? Well, you can use a comb filter or two to hone in the frequencies you want pump stuff with better resolution since it’s living in the ‘same thread’. Mod matrices out the wazoo, both midi and audio…plenty of ways to automate them all…for rerouting stuff, continuous stuff, for switching stuff, for gating stuff, pretty much whatever you want.Įver wished you could insert/remove plugins while the transport is going, things are playing, and not get a glitch in the sound? Ever wish you could do it to an unarmed track? No problem…a few strategic instances of bidule, and you can do stuff like this…throw it in instantly, or put it on a cross fade. Lotta syncing options…sync to host, or even set up your own transports with their master clocks. You can link CCs coming in to whatever you want living in a Bidule instance. Then chain that to whatever you want to pump inside Bidule. Yes, you can register VST parameters for anything you like in there too, so they pop up a lane in Cubase to work with. Throw in a sub mixer…extra gain staging, a control to ‘crossfade’, automated gates, whatever ya want! If you’re into crazy experiential stuff, go ahead and build a bidule to strobe the signals across your 12 parallel VST effects one by one on each new beat (round robin effects?, shoot, make it random, have a couple jiggle rapidly swap their LR channels 30 times a second, deep breath, dream it, and if you’ve got a computer that can handle it, it’ll sing it). Don’t want them in a series? No problem…run them in parallel, heck, run 12 of them in parallel, and 6 more serial under that if you want. Out of slots up there? Doesn’t matter…chain as many as you like in this thing. I can build key-switches, program changes, channel bounces, whatever…make these two plugins merge together ‘as one’.Įffect Chainer for Mixer VST Inserts. Mix and Match instances of Garritan Orchestra with East West Orchestra. Hosting multiple VSTi plugins in one place, more or less combining them into one instrument. I could snoop some of this diagnostic info in real time, and have Bidule bounce off a different sound (or adjust parameters, whatever) based on tempo. Maybe I want something like Garritan (that doesn’t have a user scripting engine) to use a different bowing style/pressure at faster tempos than slower ones. ![]() Info which can be used to fix issues, do really creative stuff, and build smarter instruments. I rarely do anything ‘audio’ in this first instance at all. Make really dumb controllers really smart! Like unlimited Cubase MIDI Transfomers on steroids before it ever hits the DAW. Pipe those into Virtual Ports…and go to my hosts from there. First thing I do with it, is set up a stand alone instance to run all my MIDI Controllers through it. Air, by contrast, is compressible and amorphous, which thereby requires much greater changes in altitude to cause similar changes in pressure. ![]() Water is noncompressible, and pressure increases linearly at a rate of 1 atmosphere every 10 m. The differences between the physical properties of water and air explains why barosinusitis is reported to be more common in divers than in pilots. Aviation and diving studies indicate that decompression barosinusitis events associated with descent and increased gravity are twice as common as sinus barotrauma that is related to ascent, compression, and reverse squeeze phenomena. The corresponding injuries that may result from uncompensated centripetal, “pulling” forces can range from mild mucosal edema, to complete avulsion of the mucosal surface from the bone, to hematoma formation, depending on the degree and rapidity of the pressure shifts ( Fig. According to Boyle's Law, this results in a decrease in gaseous volume within the nasal cavity and sinuses themselves, and this, therefore, creates a decompression or squeeze effect. (C) Type 3 frontal cell that compromises sinus outflow a reverse squeeze or compression injury may occur in both the frontal sinus and obstructing type 3 cell, producing severe, but focal, symptoms.īy contrast, during descent, ambient air and water pressures increase due to the effects of gravity and/or water mass. Decrease in gaseous volume within the sinuses during descent creates intrasinus decompression without inward pressure equalization this results in “pulling” forces within the sinus cavity that can cause mucosal edema, avulsion of the mucosal surface from the bone, and hematoma formation, depending on the degree and rapidity of the pressure shifts. ![]() (B) A squeeze or decompression injury in an inflamed or partially obstructed sinus. Increased air expansion and elevated intrasinus pressure during ascent, without compensated pressure release, produces an outward, “expansile” compression injury of the sinus mucosa against the bony sinus outer walls this results in mucosal edema and rupture. (A) Reverse squeeze or compression injury in an inflamed or partially obstructed sinus. Illustrations that depict scenarios of sinus barotrauma. The numerous downstream mechanistic pathways are further discussed by etiology. 18– 20 The uncompensated changes in intrasinus pressure can result in the mucosal injuries observed in barosinusitis. In patients with barosinusitis, the ostia may be anatomically smaller (due to minor fluctuations in the wall positions around the ostia) or become narrowed or obstructed due to local inflammation, edema, or trauma, which compromise the ability of the ostia to compensate and facilitate air exchange. Communication between the central nasal cavity and more laterally located sinuses allows changes in pressure to be compensated by small changes in the volume of gas within the sinuses. Under normal circumstances, barometric air pressure within the sinus cavities equilibrates with the pressure in the surrounding nasal passages through the openings into the sinuses, known as the sinus ostia. The paranasal sinuses are labyrinthine air-filled spaces bounded by thick, fixed bony outer walls, and by thin, pliable, internal walls. PATHOPHYSIOLOGY AND REPORTED CAUSES OF BAROSINUSITISīoyle's Law, which states that, at a given temperature, the volume of a gas varies inversely with pressure, is highly applicable to understanding the pathogenesis of barosinusitis. ![]() It is quite easy to do side content alone, and then join a friend to complete other things together. Once superpowers are introduced, there is rarely any need to drive, so taking a few minutes to zip across the skyline and grab collectibles is well suited to the Switch's portable functionality.Ĭo-op is a fantastic way to experience Saints Row, and luckily the co-op on Switch is just as robust. There are so many minigames and so much side content to explore in Saints Row 4 that it works whether two players are trying to play through the main story or one player wants to finish a couple of quick diversions on the go. If someone could get Saints Row 4 on any console, why would they choose the Switch? In this case, Saints Row works perfectly on the portable console. Porting a game to the Nintendo Switch doesn't just depend on how good the game is, but how good it is for the Switch. Every little touch seems like the developers asked: "what would be most fun here?" and then did it. The superpowers, minigames, and real story twists haven't even begun by that point, and Saints Row 4 has already packed more character and jokes in than most games ever manage to do in their entire playtime. There is no other game in which the player goes from raiding a compound as a special agent, to riding a nuclear missile into the sky in an attempt to disarm it, to crash-landing in the oval office and somehow becoming the President, to fighting off an alien invasion, to being tormented in a twisted version of the Matrix, all within the first half-hour of gameplay. Saints Row 4 is unique because it introduces superpowers to the gameplay as well. Massive action set-pieces, a mind-boggling array of minigames, and constant variability in gameplay are what make any Saints Row game great. To those unaware, it might just seem like a GTA clone, but Saints Row is so much more than that. Other than that, Saints Row gameplay is like nothing else. Aiming and shooting on the joy-cons can be a pain for those who are used to full-size controllers, but that is to be expected on the Switch. The gameplay feels much the same as it did on consoles when the game first launched. |
